The Area

The pub is located in the middle of one of Britain’s most stunning and stimulating Areas Of Outstanding Natural Beauty, that stretches from Between Hereford and Ross-On-Wye down to Chepstow, and is a stone’s throw from the Forest of Dean. There are many ways to enjoy the magnificence of the local area, from simply driving some of the roads, through canoeing, kayaking, cycling, motorcycling, horse riding, and easy walking, on to the more determined hiking!

The area is steeped in history with Offa’s Dyke, the birthplace of Henry V and many other events up to recent times.  There is a lot of information available on the internet about the area as Monmouth is the first place in the world to become a Wikipedia town, where many features are listed in the encyclopaedia (and can be accessed from the QR codes displayed nearby), as well as sites such as www.wyedeantourism.co.uk and www.wyevalleyaonb.org.uk
